Retirement of Director

With effect from Saturday 31 March 2001, Jeffrey Curtiss has retired from the
board of directors of United Overseas Group plc.  Mr Curtiss held the position
of Chief Executive Officer of the Company from flotation until September 2000,
when he became Vice Chairman, a position he occupied until his retirement.
