Unite Group PLC 05 November 2004 THE UNITE GROUP PLC 5 NOVEMBER 2004 The UNITE Group plc (the 'Company') The Company has today been informed that Mr Nicholas Porter, Chief Executive Officer of the Company, gifted 50,000 ordinary shares of 25p each in the Company (representing 0.045% of the issued share capital of the Company), to Uniaid Foundation ('Uniaid') on 4 November 2004. Mr Porter, who is a trustee of Uniaid (which is a registered charity), gifted the shares with the purpose of enabling the charity to move towards the next stage of its development. Uniaid was set up to help students overcome the financial hurdles to higher education. Following the transfer of the above referred to shares, Mr Porter will (as a result of him being a trustee of Uniaid), remain interested in 13,374, 367 ordinary shares of 25p each in the Company, representing 12.02% of its issued share capital. Included in Mr Porter's interests are (i) 1,146,000 ordinary shares held by the trustees of The Porter Family Discretionary Trust, the beneficiaries of which are Mr Porter's two children; (ii) 253,140 ordinary shares held by the trustees of the Jane Louise Discretionary Trust, the beneficiaries of which are again Mr Porter's two children; and (iii) 125,000 ordinary shares held by the trustees of the Red Shoes Charitable Trust, one of whom is Mr Porter.
