Design Win

Sarantel Group PLC 11 October 2007 11 October 2007 SARANTEL GROUP PLC Further design win and production orders for GPS tracker market Sarantel (AIM: SLG), the leading manufacturer of revolutionary filtering antennas for mobile and wireless devices, has received production orders for a new design win in the personal GPS tracker market. Sarantel's GeoHelix GPS antenna, which is extremely small, omni-directionally and high performance, will now be integrated into ROMTRAC's RSP-100. The RSP-100 tracker Romad Personal Safety Phone is ideally suited for use by lone worker, security or workforce management environments. This brings the total number of Sarantel design wins in this market segment to seven in the past 12 months and is the latest design win for Sarantel's second generation GPS antenna. The Romad RSP-100 is a small, slim line and lightweight device measuring only 90mm in height, 46mm in width and a depth of 17.5mm. Weighing only 62.5g with the standard battery means that the device can be worn on a lanyard, or placed in a mobile case. Simple over-the-air commands are used to configure the device, providing four pre-programmable speed dial numbers and a rugged SOS alert button. Sarantel's GeoHelix GPS antenna was selected for its small size, omni-directionality and high performance when hand-held. Unlike other antennas, the GeoHelix does not detune when it is held in the hand and its omni-directional performance enables it to detect satellites no matter the orientation of the device. The unique properties of Sarantel's GeoHelix antenna were key enablers of the design of such a small yet powerful device. ROMTRAC were also pleased with the ease of integrating the antenna in the device, enabling them to save engineering time and resources, and accelerating their time-to-market. David Wither, Chief Executive of Sarantel says: 'We are very pleased to consolidate our position in the personal tracker market with this latest design win. ROMTRAC was able to integrate this standard component antenna into their device very easily, thereby reducing development risk. 'Our GeoHelix antenna also provides very high performance in a small hand held package, enabling them to design an attractive device to meet the demanding performance requirements of this fast growing market.'
