Treatt announced today that Mr. Peter Thorburn (aged 59) has been appointed
Non-Executive Director of the Company. Mr. Thorburn has been appointed to the
Board with effect from 18 March 2002.


Mr. Thorburn, a Florida resident and British citizen, was Vice President Global
Sales & Marketing Flavor and Fragrance Ingredients at International Flavors and
Fragrances Inc. ('IFF'). He was with BBA/IFF for over 20 years in a variety of
management roles.


Commenting on Mr. Thorburn's appointment Edward Dawnay, Chairman of Treatt, said
'I would like to welcome Peter Thorburn to Treatt. He has considerable
experience in our industry, particularly in the United States. His appointment
will support the new investment in Florida Treatt'.

Mr. Thorburn has no other directorships, nor is there any other information,
required under paragraph 6.F.2, items (b) to (g) of the Listing Rules, to be
disclosed in connection with his appointment.
