The Board of Travis Perkins plc has today received notification from Standard
Life Investments that following the purchase of 25,000 shares on 17 September
2002 it has a material interest in 4,501,091 shares, representing 4.009 per
cent. of the Travis Perkins issued share capital.

The shares are registered in the name of Stanlife Nominees Limited.
