                            Opening of 1000th Branch


Travis Perkins plc, the leading UK Builders' Merchant and Home Improvement
retailer, has today reached another major milestone in its history with the
opening of it's 1,000th branch. The new branch, operating under the Travis
Perkins brand will provide trade customers in Hatfield with a comprehensive
range of high quality building materials.


Travis Perkins has opened an average of 76 branches per annum over the last 5
years and is committed to further expansion of its brands to meet the growing
needs of its customers in the construction and home improvement markets.


Born out of the merger in 1988 between Travis & Arnold and Sandell Perkins, the
Travis Perkins Group, which also includes Wickes, City Plumbing Supplies,
Keyline Builders' Merchants and interior building products distributor CCF, can
trace its roots back over 200 years to the Benjamin Ingram company, trading as
joiners and carpenters from 33 Beech Street in the City of London.
