Transense Technologies plc ('the Company') has been notified in a letter dated 4
February 2002 that, following the purchase of an aggregate of 914,400 shares on
1 February 2002, Friends Ivory & Sime, part of the Friends Provident Group, is
interested in 7,231,280 shares representing 14.33 per cent. of the issued
ordinary share capital of the Company.
