Chairman's Statement

Transense Technologies PLC 16 June 2000 Extracts from Chairman's statement at AGM June 16th 2000. 'This Year has been one of considerable progress for Transense. We have successfully moved the listing of our shares from OFEX to AIM, made considerable progress on a number of aspects of our technology including the registration of patents and negotiated several important commercial agreements. Our strategy is not to manufacture anything apart from prototypes. It is then up to the application and manufacturing licensees to finalise the buying and selling between themselves. In some cases, Transense will receive an up front royalty payment. This amount will depend on how much has been made available to develop the application. I am pleased to say that in all cases Transense will receive on-going royalties on sales. This month, we signed an exclusive agreement with Sawtek of the USA whereby they will make our Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) devices for sale to our application licensees. This transaction is a major benchmark in Transense's history, signalling to the automotive industry that large companies support our view that our technology is a world beater and that they are prepared to fund the design and tooling costs that are necessary for large volume manufacturing. Sawtek is one of the fastest growing SAW manufacturers in the world, currently making around 150 million devices a year. It is quoted on NASDAQ with a market valuation of some $2.5 billion. We are close to a manufacturing licence agreement with Thomson-CSF, one of the world's largest integrated circuit manufacturers, which will have closed the loop on the first part of our journey. These two agreements will demonstrate to potential buyers that products exploiting our technology can be manufactured in the huge volumes necessary for the applications to which they are naturally suited. Our next challenge will be the application licensees who will buy components from the manufacturers. You will recall that we have already signed a user licence contract with SmarTire for tyre pressure monitoring. It is now our aim to concentrate our efforts on not only expanding this market sector but also the others applications that lend themselves to our technology. I am pleased to say that discussions are taking place with a number of such companies with this in view. By licensing our technology we have efficiently saved ourselves millions of pounds in costs that would have been incurred by trying to go it alone. This way we not only achieve credibility for our technology we do it without the inherent manufacturing risks and costs'. Graham Jarrett, Chairman.
