                  Gareth Jones Appointed Non-Executive Director

TBI plc, the owner and operator of regional airports and related businesses,
is pleased to announce the appointment of Gareth Jones as a non-executive
director with effect from 13 December 2001.

Gareth (53) who lives in Dorking, Surrey, was most recently at Abbey National
plc, where he worked from 1989 to October 2001.  He joined the bank as Group
Treasurer and in 1992 became Head of UK Retail Operations. In 1993 he was
appointed to the Main Board and returned to run the treasury operation, Abbey
National Treasury Services plc ('ANTS').  Subsequently he built ANTS from a
profitability of zero to a statutory figure of £575 million in 2000.  In 2000
ANTS was voted IFR Best Bank Borrower of the last 25 years.

During his career, Gareth worked at Conoco from 1975 within their Treasury
department, where he was responsible for both the cash management activities
as well as the granting of credit and collection. In 1982, Gareth became
Treasurer of Redland PLC.  During his time at  Redland, the market
capitalisation of the company grew from £150 million to £1.5 billion.

Gareth is currently a non-executive director of Somerfield plc and is a Fellow
of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and a Fellow of
the Association of Corporate Treasurers.
