The Company was informed on 22 August 2006 by The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. ('GS
Inc') that GS Inc, as at close of business on 18 August 2006, was interested in,
by attribution only, a total of 69,685,913 ordinary shares of 1p each in the
Company ('Ordinary Shares') representing 18.15 per cent. of the Company's
current total issued ordinary share capital of 383,981,286 Ordinary Shares.


The Company was further informed on 24 August 2006 by GS Inc that, as at the
close of business on 22 August, GS Inc was interested in 67,690,578 Ordinary
Shares representing 17.63 per cent. of the Company's current total issued
ordinary share capital.
