Tesco PLC - Repurchase programme

Tesco PLC announces that on 22 February 2008 the Company entered into an
irrevocable and non-discretionary arrangement with its brokers, JP Morgan
Cazenove Limited, Goldman Sachs International and Lehman Brothers, to repurchase
on its behalf and within certain pre-set parameters, ordinary shares in the
Company for cancellation during the period commencing 23 February 2008 and
ending on 14 April 2008. This arrangement is in accordance with Chapter 12 of
the Listing Rules and the Company's general authority to repurchase shares.
