Recyclus receives patent pending status for new lead paste desulphurisation process

Technology Minerals Plc (LSE: TM1), the first listed UK company focused on creating a sustainable circular economy for battery metals, is pleased to announce its 48.25% owned battery recycling business, Recyclus Group Ltd ("Recyclus"), has received patent pending status from the European Patent Office ("EPO") for its lead paste desulphurisation process which has been developed from its recycling facility in Tipton, West Midlands.

The receipt of the International Patent Application from the EPO is a significant step for Recyclus in the patent processing of its lead paste desulphurisation process, with the next stage being the receipt of the International Search Report.

Recyclus has developed an innovative process which significantly reduces the sulphur content in the recycled lead paste, resulting in the production of what is termed 'alpha' paste, which when smelted, produces lower levels of hazardous sulphur oxide (SOx) and in turn requires lower levels of energy through the smelting process, reducing smelting costs. In addition, Recyclus' process assists the filtration rate during smelting, which reduces water consumption.

Robin Brundle, Chairman of Technology Minerals, said: "We are delighted with the results generated by our innovative new approach to the lead paste desulphurisation process, which we have successfully developed to deliver improvements to our end customers, both in terms of processing costs and reduced levels of hazardous waste gases, which ultimately supports the global push towards NetZero. We are eagerly working towards achieving patent status and will update the market on our progress in due course."
