                            UPDATE RE: LEGAL DISPUTE


T. Clarke plc, ('T. Clarke') the Electrical engineering and contracting Group,
today announces that Allan J. Smith, who was dismissed as Managing Director of
its subsidiary SCS Building Services Ltd., (Formerly Smith Contracting Services
- now part of T. Clarke) for gross misconduct, has withdrawn his application for
unfair dismissal.


SCS will continue to vigorously pursue recovery of damages and costs relating to
the breach of warranties given at the time of acquisition and other related
matters.
