The number of shares that the Company has in issue and the total voting rights
in the Company should have read 457,533,882 and not 457,553,882 as previously
stated. All other details remain unchanged.

Tate & Lyle PLC ('the Company') announces that on 07 February 2008 it purchased
through ABN AMRO Hoare Govett 400,000 ordinary shares at an average price of
481.30 pence per share.

These shares will be cancelled.

Following the purchase and cancellation of these shares the Company has
457,533,882 shares in issue (excluding 2,942,451 shares held in Treasury).

This number (457,533,882) represents the total voting rights in the Company and
may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which
they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a
change to their interest in, Tate & Lyle PLC under the FSA's Disclosure and
Transparency Rules.
