                         Routine meetings with analysts

Prior to entering its closed period for the year ending 31 March 2001,Tate &
Lyle is meeting with stockbrokers' analysts.  This follows the trading update
issued on 6 February 2001.  Notwithstanding the continued challenging
environment, we believe that results for the year ending 31 March 2001 will be
broadly in line with expectations.
