Tate & Lyle was informed on 9 June 2000 that 10,000 Tate & Lyle Ordinary
shares were acquired at 272 pence each share on 9 June 2000 by Sir David Lees,
the Chairman of Tate & Lyle PLC. Sir David now has an interest in 30,000
Ordinary shares in Tate & Lyle PLC.
