shares were acquired at 402 pence each share on 11 January 2000 for a
corporate single company individual savings account (ISA) owned by Mr S
Gifford who is an executive director of Tate & Lyle PLC.  Mr Gifford now has
an interest in 79,245 Ordinary shares in Tate & Lyle PLC.
