                       Statement re share price movement

The Board of Tanfield Group plc (the 'Company') has noted the recent rise in its
share price. The Company is in discussions with regard to a potential fund
raising. If successful part of the proceeds may be used for an acquisition. The
Board expects to be able to update shareholders further towards the end of
August.
