         Shareholding in Tanfield Group Plc ('Tanfield' 'the Company')

The Company was on 22 December 2004 notified by Strathclyde Pension fund that on
3 December 2004 it purchased 7,000,000 ordinary shares, resulting in a holding
of 7,000,000 ordinary shares in the Company which represents 5.22 per cent of
the issued share capital. These shares are registered in the name Nortrust
Nominees, Account GCC02.
