 Change of Director and Disclosure of Directors' Interest in Shares in Tanfield
                      Group Plc ('Tanfield' 'the Company')   

Tanfiend announces that Douglas Smith has today resigned from the board of the
Company to concentrate other interests. The Directors would like to thank Doug
for his valuable input over the last few years and wish him the very best for
the future.

The Company further announces that Non-executive Chairman Jon Pither has
exercised an option to acquire 500,000 shares from Chief Executive Director Roy
Stanley for 0.1 pence per share and acquired from Mr Stanley a further 500,000
shares at 10 pence per share.

In addition, Mr Stanley has subscribed for 400,000 shares in the placing
announced on 4 October.

Following these transactions, Mr Pither is interested in a total of 1,099,948
ordinary shares, representing 1.07 per cent of the enlarged issued share
capital, and Mr Stanley is interested in 49,797,074 ordinary shares,
representing 48.4 per cent.
