                             DIRECTOR SHAREHOLDING


The Company was notified yesterday that Douglas Smith, a Director of the
Company, purchased 5,000 ordinary 1p shares at a market price of 67 pence per
share on Thursday 3 October 2002.  Mr Smith now has an interest in 45,604
ordinary shares in the Company representing 0.30 per cent. of the current issued
share capital.
