                Appointment of new non-executive director

Yule Catto & Co plc announces that Mr Richard Hunting has been appointed as a
non executive director, with effect from 4 February 2000.

Mr Hunting, 53, is chairman of Hunting PLC, the listed international company
with interests in oil services and defence engineering.

The details required by paragraph 16.4 of the Listing Rules concerning Mr
Hunting are as follows:

1.     Mr Hunting is currently a director of Hunting PLC.  He has not held any  
     directorships in other publicly quoted companies in the previous 5         
   years.

2.     There are no details concerning Mr Hunting requiring disclosure          
     pursuant to paragraphs 6.F.2 (b) to (g) of the Listing Rules.
