First Contract Win with Mobile Operator in Latin America Validates Reseller Channel

Synchronica plc (AIM: SYNC), the mobile email and synchronisation specialistis pleased to announce a contract win in Latin America with one of the largest mobile operators in Chile ("the Operator"). The contract is the first signed with Synchronica's strategic reseller Brightstar, and presents a positive validation of the reseller channel established in February of this year.

The Operator, which has more than 5 million subscribers, is planning to launch Synchronica's Mobile Gateway in time for Christmas, enabling subscribers to receive push email and synchronization on a wide variety of mobile phones.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Operator places an initial purchase order for a 50,000 user license of Synchronica Mobile Gateway at $2.92 per user, plus an annual fee of $0.73 per user for support and maintenance. Synchronica will also provide professional services for customization and integration for a fee of $156,000.

Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica commented, 'We are delighted to have signed this agreement with a leading operator in the South American market, a key milestone for Synchronica. Not only is it an endorsement of our technology and value proposition of increasing ARPU and reducing churn, but it is also the first agreement through our re-seller Brightstar with whom we have developed a strong pipeline in Latin America."

A report from IE Market Research 2008 forecasts the total number of mobile subscribers in Chile to reach 18.3 million by 2010 and predicts Chile to have the highest wireless penetration in Latin America (1).

According to research by Portioresearch (2), mobile messaging is a fast growing and exciting industry, generating revenues of 130 billion USD worldwide in 2008, and this figure is set to rise to a market value of 224 billion USD per annum by 2013. The study forecasts mobile email users worldwide will quadruple from approximately a quarter of a billion in 2008 to over a billion by the end of 2013.
