On April 22nd 2009 the local court of Hildesheim appointed Dr. Thomas Rabe (43) to become a new member of the Supervisory Board of Symrise, effective immediately. Dr. Thomas Rabe is the official successor of Klaus Kühn, CFO at Bayer, who stepped down from Symrise's Supervisory Board on December 31, 2008. Dr. Rabe is one of the six members of the Supervisory Board, who are representing the shareholders. Dr. Rabe has been the chief financial officer at Bertelsmann since 2006. He studied business administration at the University of Cologne, where he also completed a doctoral degree (Dr. rer. pol.) in 1995..Dr. Rabe began his career in 1989. Early on he held various positions at the European Commission, the legal firm Forrester Norall & Sutton, the Treuhandanstalt and an investment company. In 1998 he was named a member of the board at the custodian bank Cedel (now Clearstream AG). He became CFO of the RTL Group in 2000 before being appointed CFO and head of the corporate center at Bertelsmann in 2006. Dr. Rabe is currently also on the Supervisory Boards of the RTL Group and Gruner & Jahr. He is married and lives in Berlin and Gütersloh.
