Re Agreement

Symphony Plastic Technologies PLC 11 November 2002 For Immediate Release 11 November 2002 Symphony Plastic Technologies plc Improved Agreement with EPI Environmental Products Inc ('EPI') Symphony Plastic Technologies plc ('Symphony' or 'the Company') is pleased to announce that it has re-negotiated the terms of its existing additive agreement with EPI ('the Agreement'). Symphony's degradable products are made using a patented additive secured through the Agreement with EPI, as set out in detail in the flotation prospectus (22 November 2001). This expires in 2015 and limited Symphony to the right to manufacture and sell specific degradable plastic products (principally plastic bags and refuse sacks). The Agreement placed constraints on Symphony which, in particular, prevented it from developing and exploiting other degradable applications, and also limited its wider commercial scope. In order to strengthen Symphony's position for the future, certain rights have been given up. The most important of these are its UK manufacturing exclusivity and the right to prevent EPI assisting competition in the UK (which was in any case due to expire in July 2003). Sales exclusivity in the Caribbean has been retained. The revised Agreement now allows Symphony to use other degradable technologies and frees it from any financial penalty if it fails to purchase annual minimum volumes of additive from EPI. This empowers Symphony to take full advantage of the many opportunities for degradable plastics both in new products and on a wider international scale. It will allow Symphony to retain its first-mover advantage and reinforce its competitive position at the forefront of both technical developments and the rapidly expanding commercial opportunity for degradable plastics. Commenting on the new license agreement, Michael Laurier, Chief Executive of Symphony, said: 'The new arrangement with our partner, EPI, will enable Symphony greater freedom and strength to expand its business into other products and markets and thus ensure that Symphony remains the leading supplier of all forms of degradable plastics, in the UK and other international markets'.
