SUN LIFE FINANCIAL OF CANADA TO ISSUE FURTHER 21.54 MILLION SHARES
(TORONTO - April 3, 2000) - Sun Life Financial of Canada announced today that
the underwriters of its Initial Public Offering (IPO) have exercised their
over-allotment options to acquire 21,540,437 common shares granted to them in
connection with the IPO.
Net proceeds from the sale of these shares, of $Cdn 258,485,244, will be used
for general corporate purposes. The additional shares issued will bring the
total number of common shares outstanding to 421,688,442. The IPO, which closed
on March 29, was co-lead managed by Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated and RBC
Dominion Securities Inc.
Sun Life Financial of Canada is listed on the Toronto and New York Stock
Exchanges under the ticker symbol 'SLC', on the London Stock Exchange under the
ticker symbol 'SFC' and on the Philippine Stock Exchange under the symbol 'SLC'.
The IPO and these listings completed the process of the conversion of Sun Life
Assurance Company of Canada from a company owned by its policyholders to one
owned by shareholders.
