LETTER TO:  COMPANY ANNOUNCEMENTS OFFICE

Please be advised that the Board of Directors of Sun Life Financial Services of
Canada Inc. has today declared the following quarterly dividend on the common
shares of the Corporation as follows:

  12 cents in Canadian funds, payable on September 30, 2001, to shareholders of 
  record as at the close of business on August 27, 2001.
