                 APPLICATION FOR BLOCK LISTING OF COMMON SHARES

(LONDON, October 26, 2001) - Sun Life Financial Services of Canada Inc. 
announces that application has been made to the London Stock Exchange plc and UK
Listing Authority for the admission to the Official List of 10,000,000 common 
shares of no par value. These shares, which rank pari passu with the existing 
common shares in issue, are underlying shares of the same number of options to 
be granted to its employees pursuant to the Company's Stock Option Plan.
