Litigation Settlement


SMG plc ('SMG') announces today (28 July) that it has reached a full and final
cash settlement with Mr Chris Evans relating to the recent court case. SMG will
receive £7m, which covers all costs and damages.

Note

On 26 June 2003, SMG successfully defended the legal action brought by Chris
Evans.


The court ruled that Chris Evans had broken the terms of his contract and that
Virgin Radio acted properly in terminating his contract. Mr Justice Lightman
decided that he was not entitled to any of the shares he was claiming and
dismissed his claim for damages. The judge made it clear that Virgin Radio was
entitled to seek costs and damages from Chris Evans.
