STAGECOACH THEATRE ARTS TO OPEN THREE SCHOOLS
IN NEW YORK
Stagecoach Theatre Arts plc, the AIM-listed company operating the worldwide
network of part-time children's performing arts schools, has signed its first
three franchisees in New York.
Stagecoach Theatre Arts provide quality performing arts education to children
aged four to sixteen, teaching them to act, dance and sing, providing them with
basic skills which help boost confidence and self-esteem.
As a result of its success in the UK, StageCoach operates schools in Australia,
Germany, Ireland, Spain and Malta and was launched in Minneapolis in the USA in
1997, where it has run six successful managed schools.
Eli Coats from Jackson Heights, a well established teacher of acting and
directing and Helen Coleshill, originally from England, an experienced composer,
musician and producer who has worked with the BBC in New York, are both to open
Stagecoach schools in Manhattan. Richard Padro, an actor and Master of Fine Arts
from the University of California, is to open his StageCoach school in his home
town of Brooklyn Heights.
These StageCoach Theatre Arts schools in New York will be the first in the USA
to be operating under franchise, and mark a major milestone for the expansion of
Stagecoach in the USA. This follows a year of preparation of the legal
documentation required to offer franchises in the US.
The new schools will operate in New York Upper East Side, New York Downtown
Manhattan and Brooklyn Heights. They will open their doors to their first
students in September 2004.
Stephanie Manuel said: 'We are delighted to attract such high quality and
experienced franchisees in New York. StageCoach offers a perfect opportunity for
anyone with experience in the performing arts the freedom to run their own
business under a tried and tested franchised umbrella. I wish Eli, Helen and
Richard success with this exciting development.'
Stagecoach Theatre Arts continues to expand its core business, operating the
UK's largest franchise network of part-time performing arts schools for young
people aged between 4 and 16. The Group reported record numbers of schools (477
schools) and students (over 28,000 students) throughout the UK network in its
latest Interim Report.
