On 22 April 2008 Standard Chartered PLC announced the appointment of Stefano
Paolo Bertamini to the Board of Standard Chartered PLC (the 'Company') as
executive director with effect from 1 June 2008.



The Company confirms that there are no directorships held in any other publicly
quoted companies at any time in the previous five years to be disclosed pursuant
to Listing Rule 9.6.13 paragraph (1) and that there are no further details to be
disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13 paragraphs (2) to (6).
