             St. James's Place Capital plc ('SJPC') (the 'Company')

                                 Change of name

SJPC today announces that, following receipt of confirmation from the Registrar
of Companies, the Company's name has been changed from St. James's Place Capital
plc to St. James's Place plc with effect from 9 May 2006.


Dealings in the Company's shares under the new name are expected to commence
tomorrow with the existing ticker STJ.
