                 SPIRENT APPOINTS COMMUNICATIONS GROUP PRESIDENT
                             TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Spirent plc, the international network technology company, announces that My
Chung, President of Spirent's Communications group, is to join the Board of
Spirent plc as an executive director with immediate effect.

Since joining in July 1998, Mr Chung, 48, has played a key role in the
development of the company's telecom test and network monitoring business,
Spirent Communications.  In particular, he has driven a series of
complementary acquisitions, managed their successful integration and overseen
the internal development of a range of award-winning systems and solutions.
