Transaction in Own Shares


Spirax-Sarco Engineering Plc announces that it has today purchased through
Merrill Lynch International 20,000 ordinary shares at a price of 911.25 pence
per share.



The purchased shares will all be held in treasury.  Following the above
purchase, Spirax-Sarco Engineering Plc will hold 1,531,411 ordinary shares in
treasury.



The total number of ordinary shares in issue (excluding shares to be held in
treasury) is 75,653,493.
