               Board Appointment and Retirement



Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc, who provide knowledge, service
and products, including peristaltic pumps, worldwide for the
control and efficient use of steam and other industrial
fluids, announces the appointment of Mr Einar Lindh as an
independent non-executive director, with effect from 1st
January 2000, and also the retirement of Mr Bob Dodsworth as
senior independent non-executive director with effect from
31st December 1999.

Mr Einar Lindh (55) is Chairman of the Industrial Division at
Smiths Industries plc.


Tim Fortune, Chairman of Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc, said:
