Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC 11 June 2007 Appointment of Chief Operating Officer Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc, a world leader in the industrial steam-using and peristaltic pumping markets, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Vernon (54) to the newly established position of Chief Operating Officer reporting to the Chief Executive, Marcus Steel, with effect from 12th June 2007. Mark will be responsible for the day to day delivery of the Group's operating results. As such, the operating management of the Spirax Sarco and Watson-Marlow Bredel businesses will report to him. He will relocate to the UK as a result of this appointment and will continue with his existing responsibilities. This appointment will allow Marcus to spend more time on medium and longer term issues. Mark joined the Group in May 2003 as President of Spirax Sarco Inc. in the USA and took that business forward very successfully. He then came onto the Board of Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc in July 2006 with responsibility for the operations in the Americas and for Group Marketing. Prior to joining Spirax, Mark built up a broad experience in the valve and process control industry throughout the world with Valtek and its subsequent parents, Durco and Flowserve.
