SMITH & NEPHEW LIST ON THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE

Smith & Nephew plc, the global medical device company, has 
today listed its shares on the New York Stock Exchange in the 
form of American Depository Receipts (ADRs).  Each ADR is 
equivalent to 10 ordinary shares.

No new Smith & Nephew shares will be issued in connection with 
the listing.  The ADRs will be traded under the ticker symbol 
'SNN'.
