Smith & Nephew plc - Application for Blocklisting

Application has been made to The UK Listing Authority and the London Stock Exchange for a block listing of 7,000,000 Ordinary shares of US$0.20 each, to trade on the London Stock Exchange's main market and to be admitted to the Official List upon issuance.

These shares will be issued pursuant to the 2001 UK Approved Share Option Scheme, the 2001 UK Unapproved Share Option Scheme, the 2001 US Share Option Scheme, the 2004 Executive Share Option Plan and the 2004 Performance Share Plan.  They will rank pari passu with the existing issued shares of the Company.
