Interim Management Statement

Scott Wilson Group plc ("Scott Wilson" or "the Group"), the global integrated design and engineering consultancy for the built and natural environments, today releases its Interim Management Statement for the period from 15 December 2009 to date.

Current Trading

The underlying business performance of the Group continues to be consistent with current market expectations. In addition, the performance of our joint ventures will be ahead of previous indications providing confidence that overall we will, at least, meet current expectations.

Our international business is showing continued strong organic growth, supported by significant project wins including:

•           Saudi Arabia Makkah to Medina High Speed Railway

•           Poland and Italy Major Highways

•           India Sewerage Scheme in Bhubaneswar

•           China Sichuan Post Quake Reconstruction

•           Sri Lanka Highways

•           Abu Dhabi Water Transport Study

•           Tanzania Mining IPO

•           Denmark Railways Signalling Strategy

•           Zambia Hydropower Stations

•           Thailand Laem Chabang Container Terminal

•           Australia Pilbara Trackbed Investigation

The fees on these 11 projects are likely to exceed £30m.

Although the UK and Ireland market remains variable and uncertain we have been focusing on a strategy of securing and  retaining public sector framework contracts and have been appointed or reappointed in the last few months to such contracts for Defence Estates, Scottish Water, Northern Ireland Roads Service, Transport Scotland, Carbon Trust and the Ireland Prison Service.

Awards

Scott Wilson was recently named "Planning Consultancy of the Year" by the Royal Town Planning Institute clearly demonstrating the comprehensive range of expertise that the Group now offers. Other recent awards have also demonstrated the technical excellence within the Group. These include the Sustainability Award for Slope Stabilisation Trials in Laos at the Ground Engineering Awards and two British Expertise awards: Major Project of the Year for Costa Azul LNG terminal and Environmental Impact Award of the Year for the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme.

Prospects

The prospects for our international business remain good with continued strong growth in China, India and Eastern Europe and in the power and mining sectors.

In the UK the outlook is much less clear and likely to remain so until well after the general election and the identification by a new government of its priorities for the next five years. However, we remain confident that with the balance of overseas work and a high proportion of long term frameworks, coupled with our ability to continue to review our resources and react accordingly, we are well placed to cope with changing market conditions.
