                      Change in significant shareholdings


Shanta was advised on 22 December 2006 that shareholders Export Holdings Limited
("Export") and Sable Gold (Mauritius) Limited ("Sable") had disposed of ordinary
shares of 0.01p each in the share capital of Shanta Gold ("Ordinary Shares").

On 13 December 2006, Export sold 4,193,182 Ordinary Shares and Sable sold
4,193,182 Ordinary Shares (a total of 8,386,364 Ordinary Shares) to certain
Canadian funds at a price of 50p per share. Pursuant to this transaction,
Dynamic Power Hedge Fund acquired 5,916,200 Ordinary Shares, which represents
6.12% of the issued share capital of the Company.

On 21 December 2006 Export sold a further 1,000,000 Ordinary Shares and Sable
sold 1,000,000 Ordinary Shares (a total of 2,000,000 Ordinary Shares) at a price
of 50p per share to Jonah Capital. Export also transferred 5,500,000 of the
warrants issued at the time of the placing ("Placing Warrants") at 20p per
warrant to Jonah Capital. Sable transferred 5,500,000 Placing Warrants to Jonah
Capital.  Richard Jonah, a non-executive director of the Company, is also a
director of Jonah Capital

At the conclusion of the disposals Sable, Export and Dynamic Power Hedge Fund
hold the following interests in securities of Shanta:
