Senior PLC 15 March 2001 Senior sells its German Air Systems business Senior plc ('Senior') is pleased to announce that it has sold its remaining German Air Systems business, Polenz GmbH ('Polenz'), to Fedders Corporation ('Fedders') for a total consideration of £6.1m, including the assumption by Fedders of Polenz's prior year tax liability. The disposal is expected to give rise to a profit on sale of some £3.2m after costs of disposal. Polenz, part of the Group's Specialised Industrial Division, is a distributor of air treatment products into the German market. The divestment was effected through the sale of 100% of Polenz's share capital. In the year to 31 December 2000, the profit before interest and tax of Polenz was £1.0m on turnover of £16.9m. The sale proceeds will be used to reduce the Group's borrowings. Commenting on the disposal, Graham Menzies, Group Chief Executive said: 'Polenz is a well run, profitable company with an excellent market position and it will fit well with its acquirer. The sale is in line with Senior's strategy to focus on its Aerospace and Automotive businesses'.
