                          RESIGNATION OF N V TURNBULL

Following  the  disposal  of  the Engineered Products  &  Services  businesses
earlier  in  1999  and  the subsequent senior management reorganisation,  N  V
Turnbull,  having completed various special projects for which he subsequently
took  responsibility, will resign as a director of the Company upon the  close
of business on Friday 10 September 1999.
