TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

On 21 August 2015 Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust plc (the "Company") purchased for cancellation 45,987 ordinary shares of 25p each at a price of 699.78p per share.

Therefore, the total number of shares with voting rights in the Company is 31,509,663.

The above figure (31,509,663) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
