                           Purchase of Own Securities

On 26 February 2002, the Company purchased for cancellation 450,000 ordinary
shares at a price of 344.70p, bringing the total number of ordinary shares
bought back to 49,685,312.

There remain 311,034,688 ordinary shares in issue.
