                           Purchase of Own Securities

On 13 February 2002, the Company purchased for cancellation 150,000 ordinary
shares at a price of 347.85p, bringing the total number of ordinary shares
bought back to 48,895,312.

There remain 311,824,688 ordinary shares in issue.
