Repurchase of ordinary shares for cancellation

The Scottish American Investment Company plc announces that on 24 February 2003
it purchased for cancellation 410,000 ordinary shares in the market at a price
of 123p per ordinary share and on 25 February it purchased for cancellation
200,000 ordinary shares in the market at a price of 121p per ordinary share.
Following these purchases there remain 137,067,943 ordinary shares in issue.
