THE SCOTTISH AMERICAN INVESTMENT COMPANY PLC (SAINTS)

Mr William Berry (a Director) notified the Company by letter dated 3rd August
2000 that he had resigned as a Trustee of J P Grant's Children's Trust. With
effect from 2nd August 2000 Mr Berry no longer has an interest in the Trust's
holding of 4,900 SAINTS shares.
