Scottish American Investment Co PLC 18 September 2002 SAINTS - ANNOUNCEMENT RE NEW DIRECTOR At a Board Meeting of The Scottish American Investment Company Plc ('SAINTS') this morning (18th September 2002) Sir John Kerr GCMG was appointed a non-executive director of SAINTS with immediate effect. Sir John, aged 60, is Secretary General of the European Convention. He was born in Grantown-on-Spey, brought up in Glasgow and educated at Glasgow Academy and Pembroke College, Oxford. He is married with two sons and three daughters. Sir John was Head of the Diplomatic Service from 1997 to 2002 having joined in 1966. His career, which included a period in HM Treasury, concluded with successive appointments as UK Permanent Representative to the European Union, British Ambassador in Washington and Permanent Under Secretary of State at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. He is a Trustee of the National Gallery in London and the Rhodes Trust in Oxford.
