                      FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31 AUGUST 2008


Schroder Oriental Income Fund Limited (the 'Company') announces that the
Directors of the Company have declared the payment of a first interim dividend
of 2.475 pence per share for the year ending 31 August 2008 on the Ordinary
Shares of the Company.

This first interim dividend represents an increase of 10.0% on the 2.25 pence
per share that was paid at this time last year.


     Ex-Dividend Date:             9 April 2008
     Record Date:                  11 April 2008
     Payment Date:                 30 April 2008
     Dividend per Share:           2.475p
