                    Market Purchase of Company's Own Shares


Notification is given that pursuant to the authority granted at an Annual
General Meeting on 14 April 2003 to make market purchases of the Company's own
ordinary shares of 5p each, a market purchase of 240,000 ordinary shares in the
capital of the Company was made today at a price of 50.5p per share.


Following the purchase and cancellation, 203,603,359 ordinary shares will be in
issue.
